From Identity Mashup

Doc Searls is Senior Editor of Linux Journal, co-author (with Berkman Fellow David Weinberger) of The Cluetrain Manifesto, and a writer whose byline has appeared in Wired, PC Magazine, Upside, The Sun, Release 1.0, the Globe & Mail and many other publications -- as well as his own blog, which has long been a fixture in Technorati’s Top 100 (out of more than 40 million). Doc is also a frequent speaker at technology events, and has a background in broadcasting that began in the 197 0s and continues today through many different podcasts. In fact, the Identity Gang began when Doc convened its first meeting on the December 3 1, 2004 podcast of the Gillmor Gang, of which Doc is a member. Doc has been active in the Independent Identity movement ever since he was first invited to give the closing keynote at the first Digital Identity World, in 2002 -- a tradition that continues at least through 2006 (since he’s booked to close the DIDW in September of this year). He has also helped organize many of the Identity Gang’s meetings and workshops. His interest in identity centers around individual autonomy and independence -- and the need for technology, standards and practices to support the intentions of customers (much as, say, Creative Commons licenses support the intentions of artists and users).
